Family Fun

So, it's Cash's 1st birthday and he already knows how to have a good time!
This is my great granddaddy Joe and he is going to teach me to fish and to grow vegetables in a garden and mostly how to be a really wise man.
Now this is my Papa, my favorite. He loves to hold me and my cousin and we kind of like it too, especially when he tickles us with his mustache and we just laugh and laugh.

Cash was trying to teach me how to patty cake but of course I can't do that yet so...
I just gave him the finger.
Josh and I thought we would give Justin a chance to see what his future might hold. We had lots of fun in Atlanta. Josh is going to make a great doctor. He gave Justin and I a mini tutorial on all that he is learning and it was certainly fascinating. Being with my brothers and having a chat until about 1 am is a definite highlight... They are two of my best friends.

"Mom, you can put me in my bouncer while you take a shower if you want to, but you can't make me stay there!!"

The Champions

There are few moments in a person's life when they are so happy that they cry and so proud of someone that they don't even know how to tell them. The announcers have said, " the best performance in Atlantic Sun history", "this kid has ice water in his veins, he's incredible!", "he has put this team on his back and carried them"... and it goes on. Justin, my baby brother, scored 32 points in the Championship game to take his team to "the dance" a.k.a the NCAA tournament for the first time in history. He has dreamed of this day since he was a little boy and it's now a reality. Congratulations to the most valuable player and thank you for allowing all of us to be a part of the dream. You are golden.
Justin hugging his coach, Rick Byrd, who after 20 years of coaching is going dancing for the first time! He, like the rest of us, is glad someone like JD came along.

Getting to be the baby

For the past week I have had a stomach virus and I have discovered the one thing more difficult than taking care of a baby who hasn't quite gotten the sleep thing down yet and that is doing it while I'm sick. Since I do try and see the glass as half full, the fabulous thing that has come from this has been all of my husband's sweet gestures... voluntary dinners, back rubs, laundry, and even playing with my hair (which earned lots of points). My darling son also spent his first night away from us thanks to his "Mimi" aka my mother who was willing to pull the night shift so that I could sleep. I thank God for thoughtful people and though I am on the road to recovery I think I may be sick for a few more days. :.)
