Spiritual Conditioning

I have convinced myself that I must listen to some thumping music while I run. Saturday as Damien and I were going for ten through the woods, I realized that I was praying with the music on.... which basically went something like... "Lord, thank you for this beauty... "I keep bleeding, keep keep bleeding love"..."Please God help me to..." you get the idea and then God whispered as He often does, "listen to me." I immediately turned off the ipod and right next to me was a rushing creek that I couldn't see through the trees but could definitely hear loud and clear once I turned off the "noise." I had to ask God then and there to forgive me for the times that I fill my life up with noise... not bad stuff usually but stuff that keeps me from hearing His voice... So I encourage you as we prepare for this Lenten season.. not to have only one way conversations but that we might choose to take the time and make the effort to create silent spaces in our day to hear the voice of the one who loves us beyond our wildest dreams.
