Mother's Day

Teacher

Her frail hand gently rests across the top of his back
She feigns interest in "Wheel of Fortune"
For when he is with her she tries not to stare
Unfathomable is the beauty she sees in him
As a constant slideshow plays from an endless reel
what tool is there to measure the depth of a lifetime?
This man who began to teach her when he was only an infant
About what it means to love others more
That sacrifice often goes unnoticed but is consistently demanded
There is more value in thirty seconds of laughter than in any bank account
It isn't a yard full of weeds, but grass with a million wishes in it
And really, just being together is enough
